Michael W. D. Melchin, BS, JD, LLM, LLM, Esq.

 

Michael Melchin has extensive international experience.  Before settling in California, he lived in Canada, Hawaii, Portugal, Utah, Japan, Spain, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Virginia.  He is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese.

Michael began his studies at Brigham Young University in Hawaii, where he was an honor student in Economies, before obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah.  Michael served a two-year mission for the Mormon Church in Northern Portugal.

After completing his studies at BYU, Michael went to Nagoya, Japan, where he taught English, Portuguese and Spanish conversation at the prestigious Berlitz School of Languages.

He obtained his Juris Doctorate, a Maters of Laws in Taxation, and a Master of Laws in Transnational Business at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento California.

He began his legal career in Sacramento at AT&T Wireless Services, where he managed a department that was responsible for the administration of over five thousand leasehold interests in the Western United States and tax restructuring of AT&T acquisitions and entities.

After completing McGeorge’s Transnational Law program at the University of Salzburg in Austria, Michael was placed in the Business/Finance department at Gomez-Acebo y Pombo in Madrid, Spain.

Upon his return to California, Michael worked as a contract attorney in of high-profile litigation for Morrison and Forrester, Cotchett Pitre & Simon and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.  Michael also worked in the Corporate/Finance Departments of Cooley Godward in Palo Alto, California and Reston Virginia before settling into private practice in South San Francisco, California.
